Ohio Sanctioned Kinder Goat Shows

May 18, 2016 by Kinder Goat Breeders Association

The KGBA sanctioned Kinder Goat shows being held in Ohio are in less than a month! Whether you are able to bring goats or not, please try to join us for this great event. Shows will be held on Saturday and Sunday, and will be judged by two different judges – one NPGA judge and one ADGA judge. This is a great opportunity to have your goats assessed, meet other Kinder goat owners, relax and have a great time!

Show bill and entry forms can be found on the kGBA website at https://kindergoatbreeders.com/shows.html

Good luck to all participating goats and exhibitors!!

Showing Off

February 16, 2016 by Kinder Goat Breeders Association

We are very excited to announce a number of upcoming Kinder shows. Shows are a great place to connect with other Kinder owners, buy or sell goats and get professional opinions that assist you in breeding for future herd improvement. Please consider competing, volunteering or simply attending… we need your support for these shows to succeed!

April 1st- June 1st – The KGBA is pleased to announce that we will be holding another online show this spring. All you need is a few high quality pictures of your registered Kinder goats.  Go to the Virtual Show Guidelines page for and entry form and helpful tips on how to enter your goat.

****The KGBA online show is offered as a benefit to our members.  Only current members of KGBA can show their registered Kinders.

June 11-12th, 2016 – Youngstown, Ohio – The Mahoning County Capriculturists 4H Club will be hosting a sanctioned Kinder Show on June 11th and 12th, 2016. This will be a two day stand-alone Kinder Show at the Canfield Fairgrounds near Youngstown, Ohio. More details will follow…

August 19-24th – Sedalia, Missouri – The Missouri State Fair will be hosting a sanctioned Kinder show on one or more of these days. More details to come. For more information, please contact Leah Rennick.

****In order to show your Kinders at a sanctioned KGBA show, they must be registered (registration applications will not be accepted!) through the KGBA, with registrations present at time of judging.

Results Are In!!!

August 16, 2015 by Kinder Goat Breeders Association

The Kinder Goat Breeders Association is excited to announce the results of our very first online show! We had many exceptional Kinder goats entered in the show, and are extremely grateful to our judge, Kim Shunney, for sharing her wealth of knowledge and experience by taking the time to write editorials on each of her choices.

Online shows are not sanctioned by the KGBA for a number of reasons – first and foremost being that it is extremely difficult to judge a goat without seeing them move or being able to put your hands on them. A wonderful goat can place poorly in a class due to the angle of a photo or poor lighting. Major faults in another goat may not be as apparent in pictures. For this reason, online show results should always be taken for what they are – a good learning opportunity based on the very specific images that have been submitted, not the last word on any goat’s quality or value.

We thank those who submitted entries for making our first online show such a great success… it is an outstanding group of goats!

Missouri State Fair Show

August 8, 2014 by Kinder Goat Breeders Association

It is with great disappointment that I announce that there will not be a sanctioned Kinder Goat show at the Missouri State Fair this year.

Lack of interest, exhibitors and volunteer help make it impossible to continue the long tradition of showing Kinders at this fair. Past breeders and show-goers worked very hard to make the show possible and to keep it going for years… with so many Kinder owner and breeders still in the area, it is incredibly disheartening to see that come to an end.

If we want the Kinder breed to continue to grow, we all need to take part in its success. It is my sincere hope that new owners and breeders will start to consider ways to promote their goats and farms in their own communities. Don’t know where to start? Here are a few ideas:

Begin the process of creating sanctioned Kinder Goat shows in your own community. Putting on a show takes hard work and dedication, but they are great fun and a wonderful way to meet other Kinder owners in your area! This year, Kinders are showing in at least three county fairs in two different states (Montana and Wisconsin). By next year we plan to have three new sanctioned shows in the Midwest, and there are talks of having another on the west coast.

Volunteer at local events! For the last two years, there has been a Kinder booth at the west coast Mother Earth News Fair that garners a great deal of attention including articles and photos in newspapers and magazines. Having a booth at this fair is a great deal of work for those that do it, but the exposure has been priceless for all of us.

Create a local Kinder/ goat group – work with your neighbors to create buck shares, herd health days, milk test groups, etc. Community members are a great resource, and shared knowledge and experience can be invaluable!

Write articles! Submitting articles and photos for publication in magazines is a great way for our Kinders to gain exposure. Just make sure that the information you include is correct and factual, so that we don’t accidentally misrepresent ourselves.

Finally…. volunteer!!! The Association is ALWAYS in need of volunteers and fresh ideas. I’ll be posting a “help wanted” list separately… please consider volunteering – the success of our Association depends on it.
